March / April 2016

After our trip to Thailand it was back to UK and our winter woollies.
Graham and Jean visited us for a day. To make the most of the good weather we had a very pleasant walk at Friars cliff. We didn’t go for a swim.

Our near neighbour took delivery of some decking.
It arrived on this very large lorry. Unfortunately the nearside wheel broke the sewer drain cover.
It broke with huge bang.

Fortunately Travis Perkins deal in sewer covers so we had a new, stronger one within 30 minutes.

The forecast was good so we went of to Lepe beach, near Fawley, to do a geocaching circuit. Lepe was one of the places where the concrete caissons for the Mulberry harbours were made.
Here we are on the beach – chilly but bright.

Fossils in the rock – look hard, there are 4 to see.
The rock is about 3 feet (900mm) wide.

Whilst out checking a walk that I was due to lead I took these photos of the New Forest.
Unfortunately, I had to reroute the walk because part of it was impassable, so we never reached these places.

Another day  Sue and I went for a walk on Kingston Great Common which is not far from where we live. This area is described as ‘valley mire and lowland heath’.
We stayed out of the mire.

We visited Waterlooville to see our friends Tony and Ellen. Here we are geocaching just outside the Royal Hospital Haslar. The site formally closed in 2009. Our friends are intrepid and signs like this don’t stop them.
We found one of the 3 geocaches here.

We spent last weekend with Maggie and Andy in Cam.
Here we are at the top of Stinchcombe Hill (we drove up).
